UNDERFUNDING: A THREAT TO OUR CIVIL SOCIETY A Symposium on Increasing Tax Yield & Tax Equity |
Sponsored by:
Saturday, May 11, 2002, 9 AM to 12:45 PM
State Historical Society Auditorium
816 State Street / UW Library Mall / Madison, Wisconsin
Free and open to the public.Wisconsin's current tax and budget policies have us on a path leading to ever-higher
deficits and more severe budget crises in years to come. If we cannot get beyond
short-term patchwork fixes, inadequate funding will cripple state and local programs
essential to the health of our communities.
This symposium, after defining the problem, will focus on solutions: TAX CHANGES
that will distribute the burden more fairly and still enable the state to meet its
responsibilities. BUDGET POLICIES that emphasize a long-term perspective
and support public investments to broaden our future prosperity.
