April 26, 2002 General Membership Meeting Notice

The Wisconsin Alliance of Cities will meet Friday, April 26, to express support for the Senate budget package and define our vision of what should come next in terms of government structure and state support. The meeting is at the Inn on the Park in Madison from 10:00 until 2:00, with a press conference tentatively scheduled for 1:30.

In the Assembly Republican caucus during debate on the budget deficit bill, the “let’s cut shared revenue” speeches all related to “there will be no reason for local governments to come to the table unless there are cuts in shared revenue.” Let’s prove them wrong. We know reform is necessary.

Now let’s put the Alliance’s principles on paper and define the agenda for government in Wisconsin.

The Alliance’s long-term goals and support of the Senate package as a transition into a new partnership between governments in Wisconsin will be announced at the 1:30 press conference. We hope that all members will attend and help determine the direction Wisconsin will take in coming bienniums.

If you send your finance director/comptroller, please make sure that he/she is empowered to speak for your community.

Cost for the meeting is $15.00 per person. This is to cover the cost of the meeting space and a buffet lunch. If you indicate your attendance, please note that cancellation notice must be received 48 hours prior to the meeting or you will be charged. You can pay prior to the meeting by sending a check to the Alliance or wait until after the meeting when we will bill you.
